Celebrating International Women's Day
Congratulations to Angela Brand our After Sales Manager - who won the Higher and Degree Apprentice of the year awards hosted by Newcastle college. Glyn Neasham from Hodgson Sayers presents Angela Brand with the Higher and Degree Apprentice of the Year Award for “her passion and commitment” showing exceptional leadership skills!”
Angela Brand, or Angie as she prefers to be known as, joined Daikin Applied (UK) Ltd in 2005 as a Warranty Coordinator quickly progressing to Warranty and Spares Coordinator. She has shown enthusiasm from the start, eagerly taking up and completing various training courses including Time Management, Microsoft and Team Leadership.
In 2015 the company, recognising her talent for self-improvement and placed Angie on two courses, BTEC Diploma in Customer Service Level 3 and BTEC Diploma in Team Leadership Level 2. Having successfully completed these, and showing a desire for further development, and following discussions with her assessor it was recommended with the agreement of the company for Angie to progress to the BTEC Diploma in Management Level 3, which she has accomplished with ease. However, not satisfied with this level she challenged herself further and is currently working towards BTEC Diploma on Management and Leadership L5, and indications show she will complete this with the same drive and commitment as all of her other courses.
Not only has Angie being completing her BTEC awards whilst working full time she has also during this time completed the following training courses Manager & Supervisor Development; Performance Appraisals; Coaching and Mentoring and IOSH Risk Management
She has made a measurable impact within the company and is a passionate believer in improving herself and others with their various skills. These skills include working with new staff and customers to help them understand the company and its goals, as well as helping to train staff and assist with the administrative nuances of the company; computer platforms and software packages; encouraged staff to enable them to benefit from self-development. Angie’s contribution has proven to be invaluable and has demonstrated innovation and creativity.
Angie’s hard work and determination has certainly paid off, as she grows within her role as After Sales Manager, with the ongoing support of the apprenticeship she continues with her self-improvement. She has accomplished all this whilst putting together a new department, new staff and still learning and completing her course work, a lot of which is done in her own time. She has shown ongoing initiative, leadership and dedication which have earned her the respect of her peers.
