We met Stig Fiskerstrand and Roald Amudsen, Service Engineer and Project Manager at VARD, both working on a project that will see VARD building the first electric hybrid cruise icebreaker with Liquified Natural Gas LNG propulsion for the French company Ponant. The icebreaker will be 30,000 gross tons, and will accommodate 270 passengers in 135 staterooms, plus a 180 people crew.
The software activates an alarm in the event of a potential leakage and reports occurrences and frequency over time. This allows users to have a complete overview of the activity over twelve months, and then allows users to take action and set preventive measures if needed.
Chillers and heat pumps built at Daikin Applied’s factory in Italy are being charged with reclaimed R-134a as part of the company’s strategy to reduce environmental impact and develop a ‘circular economy’ of refrigerants, reclaiming up to 400,000 kg/year of R-134a.
