F Gas Regulation Compliance Check

F Gas Regulation Compliance Check

Make sure your equipment is in line with EU regulations

Your HVAC-R equipment contains fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Because of this, you must comply with a series of requirements adopted in the European Union. These requirements are there to reduce the environmental impact of refrigerants through emission prevention and containment.

F-gas Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 puts in place mandatory measures to reduce F-gas emissions in the EU. One of these measures is the prevention of emissions of F-gases. This is achieved by conducting periodical checks, proper servicing and the recovery of F gas at the end of the equipment’s life.

Why conduct F-gas leak checks?

If your HVAC-R equipment contains fluorinated greenhouse gases in quantities of 5 tonnes of CO2 equivalent or more, it

must be checked for F-gas leakage by certified personnel only.

During these checks, precautionary measures are taken to prevent leakages. In case a leak is detected, it is repaired without undue delay.

How often should you conduct leak checks?

The frequency of your equipment’s leak inspections depends on its F-gas charge size measured in CO2 equivalents as shown in the table. The installation of a leakage detection system is mandatory for equipment that contains 500 t CO2 or more. The proper functioning of the system should be checked at least once every 12 months. If the equipment has a leakage detection system, the required frequency of leak checks is reduced by half.

We manage your F-gas requirements so that you don’t have to

All commercial, industrial and public sector organisations must comply with obligations under the government’s environmental policy on F-Gas and Ozone-Depleting Substances.

Our certified technicians can help you carry out different tasks such as:

  • Regular leak checks
  • Installation of leakage detection systems
  • Diligent on-site record keeping with supporting templates
  • Recovery and/or destruction of gases before equipment is discarded

You can also combine the required F-gas inspections with one of our service plans.
