Available from 1 November 2026, the new intelligent Chiller Manager platform offers advanced plant control, improved system efficiency and greater integration flexibility, including support for third-party equipment.
Ariccia, 22 October 2026 – Daikin has announced the launch of iCM PRO, the latest generation of its intelligent Chiller Manager platform, available from 1 November 2026.
Developed to meet the evolving demands of modern HVAC installations, iCM PRO provides an advanced solution for managing, controlling and optimising heating and cooling systems. With enhanced integration capabilities, flexible configurations and intelligent control strategies, the platform is designed to improve plant performance, simplify operation and support long-term energy efficiency.
Flexible Control for Daikin and Third-Party Equipment
One of the key developments of iCM PRO is its ability to integrate and manage both Daikin and third-party chillers and heat pumps within a single control strategy, supporting up to 16 units per controller.
This flexibility makes the platform particularly suitable for buildings with mixed HVAC equipment, as well as refurbishment and modernisation projects where replacing an entire system may not be practical or cost-effective.
By allowing existing equipment to operate alongside new installations, iCM PRO helps building owners and facilities managers maximise the value of their HVAC assets while supporting future system upgrades.
The platform has also been designed to simplify installation and commissioning. Its control architecture is pre-configured using Daikin's proprietary software, providing a validated starting point that helps reduce on-site configuration requirements, shorten commissioning times and improve operational reliability.
Scalable Configurations to Suit Different Plant Requirements
iCM PRO is available in four configurations, providing control for up to 4, 8, 12 or 16 chillers and heat pumps within a single system.
Each configuration offers different datapoint capacities, ranging from 500 to 5,000 datapoints, allowing the platform to be tailored to the number of connected units, signals, operating parameters and auxiliary devices requiring monitoring and control.
This modular approach enables consultants, building operators and facilities managers to select a solution that meets the specific requirements of their installation without unnecessary investment in additional capacity.
It also provides the flexibility to accommodate future changes as building demands and HVAC systems evolve.
Advanced Management for Complex HVAC Systems
Designed for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications, iCM PRO can manage installations incorporating air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, heat pumps and multifunctional units.
The platform supports two-pipe and four-pipe configurations, including systems requiring simultaneous heating and cooling, seasonal changeover and dedicated heating or cooling applications.
In addition to managing the main HVAC equipment, iCM PRO coordinates essential plant components, including pumps, cooling towers and control valves.
By bringing these elements together within a single control strategy, the platform supports more efficient system operation, improved coordination between equipment and greater overall plant reliability.
Compatibility Across New and Existing Installations
iCM PRO has been developed to support integration across a broad range of Daikin equipment, alongside compatible third-party chillers and heat pumps.
The platform supports several Daikin air-cooled ranges, including EWYT-CZ, EWYE-CZ, EWAT-CZ, EWYT-B and EWYK-QZ, as well as water-cooled equipment such as the VZ series.
Compatibility also extends to centrifugal chillers, including the DWSC, DWDC and EWW(D)(H)(S)-DZ ranges.
This broad equipment compatibility makes iCM PRO suitable for both new HVAC installations and existing plant upgrades, helping building operators introduce more advanced control capabilities without necessarily replacing serviceable equipment.
Reliable Control with Greater Customisation
At the heart of iCM PRO is a new two-level software architecture developed by Daikin Applied Europe, combining proven control strategies with greater flexibility for project-specific requirements.
The first level incorporates validated Daikin control algorithms, providing a reliable and standardised foundation for plant operation.
A second software layer, based on Niagara technology, allows additional customisation of system configurations, operating sequences and control functions to meet individual project requirements.
This approach enables the platform to accommodate more complex applications while maintaining the reliability of Daikin's established control strategies.
For consultants and building operators, it provides a balance between standardised plant management and the flexibility needed to address specific operational challenges.
Intelligent Sequencing to Improve Plant Efficiency
iCM PRO introduces advanced sequencing capabilities designed to optimise how multiple chillers and heat pumps operate together.
The platform continuously monitors key operating parameters, including equipment availability, alarm conditions, running hours, start frequency, operating priorities and the plant's heating or cooling demand.
Using this information, iCM PRO automatically adjusts equipment operation to match changing load requirements, helping to improve energy efficiency, reduce unnecessary equipment operation and minimise component wear.
A key development is the introduction of flow-based sequencing, which complements conventional temperature-based control by considering the actual hydraulic demand of the system.
This approach is particularly beneficial for variable-flow installations, primary-secondary systems, multi-zone buildings and industrial applications where heating and cooling loads frequently change.
By responding more effectively to varying system demands, iCM PRO can help improve plant responsiveness, reduce energy consumption and support more efficient long-term operation.
Supporting More Efficient HVAC Plant Management
As building operators face increasing pressure to improve energy efficiency, manage operating costs and extend the service life of existing equipment, effective HVAC plant control is becoming increasingly important.
With its open integration capabilities, scalable configurations and advanced control strategies, iCM PRO provides a flexible solution for both new installations and existing HVAC systems.
The platform enables building owners, consultants and facilities managers to take a more coordinated approach to plant management, helping improve operational performance while supporting future refurbishment and modernisation requirements.
iCM PRO will be available from 1 November 2026.
